Intimate + Adventurous Ocean Sandbar Elopement | O'ahu, Hawai'i
Eloping is exciting, electrifying, and invigorating. Escaping the traditional wedding script allows you to get creative and do something completely new and adventurous.
I present to you an EPIC eloping idea:
Drumroll, please…
Marry your best friend in the middle of the ocean. Romantic AND legendary, I KNOW!
The ocean sandbar in O'ahu is a collection of exposed sand islets surrounded by vast + lush coral reef – a truly iconic + unique feature of the Hawaiian islands. Most of the time, the water is about waist-deep, making it more of an infinite salty-pool getaway. Only accessible by boat or kayak, it’s seriously one of the BEST places to have an adventurous elopement.
Rachel + Stephen had to change their wedding plans not once, not twice, but THREE TIMES due to a bunch of restrictions + mandates (insert a million mind-blown emojis here) which is CRAZY!!
But they weren’t going to give up! They got super creative and gathered some of their closest friends + family members to pull off the wedding of their dreams. Not only was this elopement completely unique (and epic, of course), but their special day was magically intimate and created timeless memories that will last a lifetime.
How to elope in Hawai'i!
Now that you’re seriously considering eloping in Hawai'i, you might be wondering exactly what steps to take!
No worries, I’ll make it super easy for you to jump right into planning.
1: Pick a date! Once you pick a date, reach out to your top wedding vendors as soon as possible to secure your spot! (VERY IMPORTANT! Especially with all the rescheduled pandemic weddings that have rolled over!) Vendors get booked up fast, so you don’t want to miss out on your faves.
2: Apply for your Hawai’i marriage license within 30 days prior to your wedding date. You can do that online here! A couple of days before your scheduled wedding date, pick up your document from the Hawai'i State Department of Health building. Make sure to bring your government-issued IDs.
3: Hire an Officiant (registered marriage performer). If you inquire with me, I will send you an amazing list of officiants (and many other vendors) whom I have personally worked with! Don’t worry, I got your back.
4: Lastly, pick a location! I always personally walk my clients through the best options, depending on their special vision for the day. Once you’ve found your dream location, reach out to your photographer or officiant to see if permits are required to hold a ceremony there. (Hint: Most of the time, permits are needed.)
5: GET MARRIED!!
I seriously can’t wait to be part of your adventurous elopement! Send me a message through my Inquiry Form and let’s chat.
